Our Academic English Course is designed for students (ages 18+) who wish to develop essential skills for success at a university where English is used as one language of instruction. This course uses content primarily from the social sciences to practice transferable skills that apply to multiple undergraduate programs. The curriculum focuses on using academic language through critical reading, lecture content, seminar participation, and research skills to become well-prepared for university study in English.
This course is a good fit for you if:
- you are currently a university student or you plan to attend post-secondary education
- you want to improve your language and develop academic skills for success in university courses
- you have some experience with critical reading, seminar participation, note-taking, research, and academic writing in any language
- you enjoy a challenging study environment
This course will be a mix of live and recorded lessons with additional coursework. Each week, you will work on specialised academic tasks and a collaborative project as part of your independent study. Twice weekly, our live classes will provide opportunity for you to actively practise new material by engaging with your instructor and other students.
