Will I have a bathroom in my residence room?
No – the New College Residences are dormitory-style. There are shared single-gender washrooms available on each residence floor.
Will I need to bring my own bedding and pillow if I live in residence?
No – all the residence rooms will already have linens, a blanket, and a pillow. If you require additional bedding, you are welcome to bring your own.
Can I use the University of Toronto Athletic Centre during the program?
Yes – if you are over 18 years old, you can purchase a short-term membership at the University of Toronto Athletic Centre. More information can be found here.
Am I required to do both a morning and afternoon course?
No – you have the choice of doing only a morning course or afternoon course, or both.
Can I opt-out of the health insurance?
No – all IEP students are required to have health insurance coverage through the program. We can only waive your health insurance if you have a Canadian Provincial Health Card (such as OHIP for Ontario). Please contact us at study.english@utoronto.ca for further information.
Is residence mandatory for the program?
No – IEP students are not required to live in residence during the program. If you need accommodation during the program, residence rooms are available at a first-come-first-serve basis.
